Voyage - I love you dancer

Voila! A nice blend of pop music and disco, here with some added jazzy guitars. From the french band Voyage in "I love you dancer", ripped from the flip on the 12" on the Scirocco label.
Hope you dig!

Joe Jackson - Steppin' Out

So much music and so little time. Will try to make up for the recent absence; so here's a quickie. Coming very much from my newly found passion for some 80's stuff, here's Joe Jackson's - Steppin'. Which I think is nicely crossing between the cheese and leftfield. Actually, when I did a quick search on it, I found a Phil Asher edit on it too.
For those of you who might need some other, prominent references for credibility, that is.
Anyways; I hope you dig!

Erotic Drum Band - Jerky Rhythm

Here's a piece of a vintage dj tool from Erotic Drum band in "Jerky rhythm". A heavy drum track for the more adventurous disk jockyes. I'm saying that from my own experience; even though its tribal, dance(y) nature you really need the right context to make it work. I'm sure it got released on the Champagne label too (and i'm sure I have that one), but this rip is of the red and crispy Prism release.
Hope you dig!

Sue Ann - My baby, my

Here's a bit euro sleeze in Sue Ann's 'My baby, my from her self titled LP. That's the place to get this sweet, electronic disco number produced by Pete Belotte; the former Moroder collaborator.
Hope you dig!

Bob Chance - It's broken!

Speaking of Bob Chance; here he is! This is such a cool track which always draws attention whenever I get the chance to play it. Obviously it's the music heads that gets it, as this is not your 3 minute quick fix. And this needs to be played in its entirety. It all makes sense; the straigh pounding beats with the marching bass, add to that the synth that comes in around 7 minutes and sets the dynamics out of place.
Anyways, this is the title track from his 1980 LP on Morrhythm which also give you the mad, leftfield jungle track in 'Jungle talk'. I think it might have been a private pressed thing as Bob were still selling these himself (and maybe still is) quite recently. Nowadays quite easily found as there's a repress on Trunk, and a re-edit thing by, I think, Eric Duncan.
Hope you dig!

William Onyeabor - Good name

This is not what i'm normally about, but this is just too good. From William Onyeabor, which I've possibly have came across on some old Strut compilation or similiar, but nothing familiar really. Though, by bit of coincidence, I was lucky enough to score a copy of the Good Name LP on Luaka Bop.
So appearing like a Nigerian Bob Chance this is some really heavy vintage afro-techno.
Hope you dig!

Johnnie and Michael Hill - Too hot to stop

Sometimes you might oversee the major, classic labels in the search for obscurity and rareness. But when getting deeper in the catalogues there's usually stuff that's not played out. And it doesn't get more classic than Salsoul; here's Johnnie and Michael Hill from 1980 in 'Too hot to stop'.
Oh, did I mention disco?!
Hope you dig!

Kinsman Dazz - Saturday night

This is a biggie from Kinsman Dazz in 'Saturday night'. Nice and sleazy with a healthy dose of funk. The self titled LP is a cheapie too.  No reasons to ignore.
Hope you dig!

Magnus Uggla - Sommartid

It's about time for some Swedish exotica or balearica for that matter. Obviously all Swedes are well aware of herr Uggla as he's a well known figure and musical Joe Pesci character. But as most singers he's had his rebelious times, early in his career. And these are from that time.
I usually dig these out for the summer season as the title - 'Summertime' requests for that. .
So here you go, to close the summer season; Magnus Uggla - "Sommartid" in the 12" remixed version and the later remix from 81' off the 'Godkänd pirat live' LP.
Hope you dig!

Richard Pinhas - L' Éthique

Here's a bit of an oddity that I came across not too long ago. And as impulsive as it can get, I was on the case. Apparently monsieur Pinhas is a kind of avant gard-ish producer from the late 70's and onwards. Somehow this track, and the flipside, appealed to me; sitting somewhere between early techno-ish electronics, italo and the contemporary bits that i'm into at the moment.
Sure usable as a secret dj weapon for the more pretentious crowd.
So, from a french promo only release is Richard Pinhas - "L' Éthique".
Hope you dig!

Sarr Band - Magic Mandrake

Here's a bit of obscure, and dare I say cosmic(?), disco. From Sarr Band in "Magic Mandrake", who delivers all the sweet strings, funky horns and pumping bass you could ask for in complete disco banger. When looking for the 12" you should avoid the dodgy bootleg (as always!) that came out last year or so.
Hope you dig!

Fox - The Juggler

Some folky, hippy goodness here from Fox in "The Juggler". The same titled LP is cheaper than a Big Mac and a relevant add to any hip collection.
Hope you dig!

Hudson-Ford - 95 in the shade

A sleazy tune for sleazy days. From Hudson-Ford and the 'Daylight' LP, here's "95 In The Shade". Apparently Harvey, geniously put it on a mixtape, and if its got the Harvey approval it's all tres cool. And it certainly is a fine tune in its own right.
Hope you dig!

Anna - Systems breaking down (Dance version)

Here's another finding from my recent move. I nearly chucked it away, but i'm glad i didn't. From Anna (and Geraint and Ken) in 'Systems breaking down' and the dance version. A nice, dubby balearic affair, just perfect for the season.
This post was supposed to come out some weeks ago, but divshare has been ph*cked up for quite some time. I think I need to find another player. Any ideas? Non-Flash would obviously be good.
Thanks & hope you dig!

Annabel Lamb - Riders on the storm

A few rockers might have issues with this. Don't know?! Neither care. I've been moving house for past few weeks, and anyone with a substantial collection knows the work put into that. Obviously a great opportunity to get rid of unwanted stuff, and in my case also finding new discoveries in the collection. And i got a few more...
This one from Annabel Lamb in The Doors "Riders on the storm" is one of them. There's actually a quite recent edit from Yam Who? and Ashley Beedle (which I actually got before knowing the existence of this original and my personal copy ).
Anyways, records are still all in a mess and I picked first one of the pile. Just to reveal the mysterious Annabel behind the edit from the guys. And i'd say it's a decent spin in the right, leftfield context to make the kids a bit confused. And new discoveries are always exiting.
So here we go, hope you dig!

Epic Disco

I had a gig cancelled due to some shitty weather last night, so I cooked this one up instead. Bits of fairly new-ish house, older house, some retro disco and italo bits (some recently blogged here).
Hope you dig!

Cappuccino - Hell dance with me

Hell, this is the perfect disco track! Or a perfect dance record for any given time. But, being an older track it has a very modern, minimal feel. A simple, repetetive bassline; so massive. And with an overall minimal arrangement it makes this record a banger any time. From Cappuccino in 'Hell dance with me', and for anyone on a more budget tip there's a reissue (much likely a boot) as well.
Hope you dig,  you should!

Exile - Never gonna stop

This is another cheapie LP track for your grown up dancers. From Exile in 'Never gonna stop' off the Mixed emotions LP. Personally i've always been raving the 'Kiss you all over' (check out the nice Seahawks take on that), but this makes an equally nice and slightly funkier alternative.
Hope you dig!

Aurra - Such a feeling

I've said it before about some record here, but this is one of those blueprint tunes forming the essentials for a great track. Certainly in my book and one you need to go back to now and then. From Aurra, in 'Such a feeling' on Salsoul and with Mr. Pettibone at the controls. This rip is off part 2 & 3, where i've cut some of the accapella intro and let it roll from there.
Nuff said really - hope you dig!

Mr. Flagio - Take a chance

Here's a bit of italo to go with the house and disco stuff. Not really my primary genre, but obviously there are loads of nice bits. This one I copped some time ago, and for no particular reason I ripped the instrumental version here. Mr. Flagios - 'Take a chance' on the Italian Squish label
For anyone not willing to hit too hard on the budget there's a German release as well.
Ok, hope you dig!

The Movement - Movement

Again, here's a lot of bang for your bucks. More or less for the same cost as an mp3 and certainly guaranteed to have standed the test of time. The Movement in 'Movement' from 86 and an early house production by Tommy Musto.
Original house music that sounds just as fat today.
Hope you dig!

Rah Band - Messages from the stars

Here's a bit of UK pop culture history from Rah Band and 'Messages from the stars'. Mr. Hewson has had his fair share of fame producing loads of musical celebrities, and then went to form the slightly more funky Rah Band in the late seventies. This is probably as close he gets todays' heads, as i'm gessing this is getting spins in a quite few spheres.
Fine pop music with a healthy dose of boogie, hope you dig!

Funk Masters - Love money

For anyone into their funkier side of disco there's tons of early rap instrumentals out there. Here's one from the Funk Masters in "Love Money", a 1980 UK release on Tania Music. Add a bit of dubby fx's and it's right up my strasse with enough whistles and bells to fit into any decent disco and leftfield set.
The original release also comes in an easter festive yellow pressing.
Hope you dig!

The Duncan Sisters - Outside Love

If you got a few spare dollars and are looking for a disco banger to spend it on; this would be my tip. The Duncan Sisters in 'Outside Love'. Nothing but seven minutes of pure love and energy. Actually (co-)produced by John Luongo, and when looking back on his discography there's loads. I didn't have much knowledge of him, besides some of the less mainstream, leftfield stuff he's done.
Anywayz, hope you dig!

Sha-lor - I'm in love

Raw, but soulful garage back from the summer of love era. Here from Sha-lor in "I'm in love" and the conservative version on Gertie. Becoming a somewhat conservative version myself, I can't help but thinking this is house music kids of today need to get more familiar with.
Hope you dig!

Alton McClain & Destiny ‎– Crazy Love

You've got to love this! Killer, soulful disco from Alton McClain & Destiny ‎in "Crazy Love". Here's with Jim Burgess at the controls on this 12" version, with a monster breakdown. Make sure you check!
I actually got this, not too long ago and it had belonged to a 'Sundance Kid', member of a record pool back in the day. And instinctively I got curious of the story of the record. A rather distinct divergence if you're dealing with physical artefacts opposed to digital 'records'. I might actually need to do some research for the 'Sundance Kid'.
Anyways, hope you dig!

Sailor - Down by the docks

I think they are some UK glam rock types in Sailor. Here's something slightly different from them in 'Down by the docks' off a Canadian 12". I believe the 12" version is different from the LP one, more stripped down and dirty.  And it's great, all up my street with its pumping beats, sleazy bass and sweet disco-ey strings.
Hope you dig!

Donald Byrd - Ghana

There's been soo many Donald Byrd tracks over the decades, and so many styles covered. Basically any modern genre has it connections to them in some way.
And he was one the greatest. Here's one personal favourite in the slamming 'Ghana' of the 'Byrd in flight' LP.
Hope you dig - you should!

OPM - In and out of love

Here's a heavy piece of leftfield-ish funk in the 12" version of OPM's 'In and out of love'. Bit of adult rave simply.
Hope you dig!

Ströer - Don't Stay For Breakfast

Don't really know much about Mr Ströer. It's german, cosmic, with Harry Thuman at the controls. That's it. Check Ströers self titled LP for another great track in 'Think it over'. Here you get the massive 'Dont stay for breakfast'.
Hope you dig!

Heaven & Earth - Jenny

I've had a quite good turnover on the selling lately and obviously, from there it isn't long to get into the wants. This time I wanted to go into some stuff not necessarily disco or related. So here's a recent purchase in Heaven & Earth and the song 'Jenny' off the 'Refuge' LP. It's really a no brainer, just ace folky psychadelic soul on the Ovation label. One thing I found out was that this actually was produced by Dick Shory, who I believe was the head of the label in some way.
Anyways, hope you dig!
