A x-mas bonus. Bits of library, leftfield-ish soul, disco and house.

Robin Beck - Sweet talk
I didn't realise that this was the Robin Beck that had a quite major hit -"First time" in the eighties. If you're old enough to remember that is. Anyway this is prior to that era, in her major disco bomb "Sweet talk". It's just perfect soul disco with some heavy strings, courtsey of Kenny Lehman, who's behind some of the Chic stuff and some more underground releases later in the eighties.
Maybe it's her duties as backing singer to Chaka Khan, amongst others, that gives some logical explanation for this single. Musicwise, as far as I know, there's isn't anything like this in her discography; it's just all cheezy rock stuff.
Update: I put the track in this mix.
Hope you dig!

Mr Fingers - Stars
There isn't any day when you can't find a Larry Heard song that captures your mood. I copped a few records back in the day, but to be totally honest, I didn't really understand his greatness back then. But obviously it's great to have them today.
Here's a rip of the classic 89' "Amnesia" LP in "Stars", and this just great emotional and timeless electronic music. Sure not banging as the kids like it, but non the less essential dance music.
I hope you dig!
